5 General Engine Characteristics Review The Small-block Chevy is a series of small bore/stroke engines built by the Chevrolet Motor Division: First Appeared in 1955 models (265 cu in.) –Originally a 265 cu. In. –Reached Maximum size at 400 cu in. –Carbureted and Fuel Injected General Engine Characteristics: –Variable compression ratios –Horsepower ratings up to 1500HP –Cast Iron and Aluminum Blocks –Nicknamed “Mighty Mouse” –Highly Successful in Oval track Racing 5
