2 Welcome & Opening Welcome Introductions: – Board & Officers Meeting Objectives: – Provide information on lacrosse & its governing bodies – 2014 CG Trojan Lacrosse objectives – Plans for 2014 season – Meet the coaches & players and initiate the registration process Thank You to: – CGHS for allowing us use of their facility tonight – Our sponsors who help make lacrosse possible in Center Grove

4 What is Lacrosse Overview: – Stick based game originated by Native Americans from 1600’s – Traditionally based in the East Coast/mid-Atlantic regional – National governing body, US Lacrosse, established in 1998 – Lacrosse in Center Grove and IYLA established in 2007 This is Lacrosse.

5 Youth Lacrosse Overview US Lacrosse: (USlax)USlax – National body responsible for administration & growth of sport – Annual membership requirement for players and coaches – Facilitates mandatory insurance coverage Indiana Youth Lacrosse Organization (IYLA)IYLA – Governing body for boys & girls (K through 8 th grade) – Establishes membership eligibility (team and individual) – Establishes and administers rules of the game – Manages games schedule and year end tournament CG Trojan Lacrosse (CG Lacrosse)CG Lacrosse – Formed in 2013, replaced existing organization – New board, officers, & coaches.

6 2014 Season Spring Season: – Winter Conditioning: in progress on Friday evenings – Organized Practice: start next week – Games: about 12, most in April and May (some before spring break) – Tournament: mid to late May Boys – Will have 3 rd /4 th, 5th/6 th, and 7th/8th A & B teams Girls – Will have middle school team 6 th – 8 th – Will consider elementary team or feed into middle school team Summer: – Not yet planned but tournaments, camps, & travel teams are options

7 2014 Season Objectives Develop Depth in the Program – Increase the number of participants & retain them through high school – Increase the number & quality of coaches within the organization – Develop broader more inclusive board and officers – Secure permanent playing facilities Improve our skill level & competitiveness – Focus first on individual technical skill development and conditioning – Learn the rules, teach game strategy, and team play – Make sure everyone plays so they will develop Improve the Reputation of our Program: – Poorly organized, undisciplined, physical, and poorly led – Not well thought of within the lacrosse, school, and local community – Every action of our organization, coaches, & players is important.

18 Parent Discussion Expectations – Compliance with rules (US Lacrosse, IYLA, CGTL, CGCSC, etc) – Games & Practices: (Maple Grove and other locations) – Transportation: parent provided to away games Registration & Fees – US Lacrosse: $25/annually – Boys & Girls: $175, with $10 discount for early registration Equipment – Personal: shoes, sticks, helmets/goggles, & gloves/pads – Club: uniforms, goalie gear, & field equipment

19 Parent Discussion Organizational Expectations – Organization must focus forward – Annual fees must cover costs of operation – Fees and forms must be submitted prior to participation – All players must be eligible – Parents will participate Parent Opportunities – CG Trojan Lacrosse – Individual Team Questions
