1 Interim Assessment Hand Scoring System – How to

2 Logging In through the CAASPP.org site. Click on
Use the same log in and password as when you administered the test.

3 Step 1. Hand Scoring System Home Page will show you a list of students with their assessment questions to score.

4 The table includes: Column Description Name Name of the student Item
Name of the hand-scored item Session ID of the session in which the student completed the test containing this response Status “Not Scored” indicates the student question still needs to be scored “Tentatively Scored” indicates the student question was scored but still needs to be marked as complete Assigned To The Test Administrator to whom the student is currently assigned Score Select the button in this column to enter a score for the response.

5 Step 2. You can select a specific test to score from the drop down screen.

6 Step 3. Click on the Score Button.

7 Step 4. The rubric for the question is shown above the student’s answer. You can click on Exemplar to see examples of student work with the different scores and explanations.

8 Step 5. You can type in a score or select from scroll button.

10 Step 6. Once you input the score, you click on Submit Score at the bottom of the screen. The score is tentatively saved, and can still be still be changed. Click on Back to return to the student list.

11 Step 7. Once you have entered a score, it will change to from Not Scored to Tentatively Scored
Step 8. Once you are done, and are comfortable with scores you assigned, check the student(s)’ name(s), and click on Mark Selected As Complete. You will not be able to go back and change the score once you do that. In fact, this student response will no longer appear on your screen.

12 Site Coordinators (Principals) can assign student responses to be scored to other TA (Teachers)
Students questions to be scored are automatically assigned to the TA who logged them in last. For example, a principal does a make up test and logs a student in or an RSP teacher logs in for a substitute teacher and begins a sessions. Those students will not show up to be scored under that person. Within the Interim Assess Hand Score System tab, the site coordinator will have another button at the bottom of the screen.

13 Reassigning Student answers to another person to score.
This button will not appear on Test Administrator (TA/Teacher) screens. Once the reassignment is made, it will move that student from one TA to the other TA list.

14 Systems Used for the Interim Assessments
At the end of February, once all the assessments are given and scored, the student reports will be made available. More information will come on how to access these reports.
