Part B: Summary of Evidence – 6 marks Marks Level descriptor 0 There is no relevant factual material. 1–2 There is some relevant factual material but it has not been referenced. 3–4 There is relevant factual material that shows evidence of research, organization and referencing. 5–6 The factual material is all relevant to the investigation and it has been well researched, organized and correctly referenced.

Format and Recommendations: Key to this section is to set down your evidence clearly This section must be organized and referenced correctly References: CMS, every bullet should have a footnote You should organize this in bullet points (numbered/lettered) either thematically or chronologically (most of you are thematic) This should NOT include any analysis…just straight facts 500-600 words (closer to 600) Include info that is relevant to your question 3-4 categories (your counterargument examples will be placed into one of your categories depending on the topic) you should not have a separate counter argument category

Footnotes…so much fun! In your Summary of Evidence this is easy. EVERY bullet point will include a footnote. In your Analysis this will be more difficult. Every quotation NEEDS a footnote, every idea that is not yours NEEDS a footnote, and information that you paraphrase NEEDS a footnote! I tend to over-cite…but better safe… Let’s try one for fun…open up a Word document

Example… “It was Danton at his best, but also at his impulsive worst. He was sinking deeper into violence himself.” Book: The Giant of the French Revolution: Danton a Life Author: David Lawday Publishing: Grove Press, New York, 2009 Page: 133 Put this into a 1 st time footnote, 2 nd time footnote and a Works Cited footnote If you were to quote this author two times in a row you could use Ibid

Check your answer… 1 st time 1. David Lawday, The Giant of the French Revolution: Danton a Life (New York: Grove Press, 2009), 133. 2 nd time 2. Lawday, The Giant of the French Revolution, 133. Works Cited Lawday, David. The Giant of the French Revolution: Danton a Life. New York: Grove Press. 2009.
