Chloroplast- are organelles special units in a plant and algal cells They conduct photosynthesis in plants, the photosynthetic pigment chlorophyll that captures the energy from sunlight It stores it in an energy storage ATP and NADPH, and frees oxygen from water
3
Chloroplasts few of many types of organelles in a plant cell. They are originated from cyanobacteria through endosymbiosis. Chloroplasts are only found in plants algae.
4
Cyanobacteria are basically the ancestors of chloroplasts. They can be called blue-green algae even though they are prokaryotes Prokaryotes- single- celled organism that has neither a distinct nucleus with a membrane nor other specialized organelles
5
The alga Cyanophora, a glaucophyte, is thought to be one of the first organism to have chloroplast in it. The Glaucophyte chloroplast group is the smallest of three main chloroplasts Glaucophyte chloroplast thylakoids are studded with light colleting structures called phycobilisomes. Phycobilisomes- light harvesting antennae of photosysem 2 in cyanobacteria, red algae and glaucophytes.
