Oxygen The discovery of oxygen: A man named Joseph Priestly, an English chemist, discovered oxygen in seventeen seventy- four.

Uses of oxygen: Oxygen gas is used with hydrogen or coal gas in blowpipes and with acetylene in the oxyacetylene torch for welding and cutting metals. Oxygen is produced by plants. Plants take in carbon dioxide from the air and let out oxygen.

Properties of oxygen: The physical property of oxygen is a cubic crystal structure. The chemical property of oxygen is in the respiratory processes of most of the living cells and in combustion processes. There is more oxygen in warm water than cool water. Most oxygen in the water comes from plants though underwater photosynthesis.
