#1 - Addressing Legacy Mine Water Quality Impacts #2 – Addressing Excessive Selenium Impairments #3 – All Other NPS Categories – pathogens, nutrients, mercury, education and outreach

Implementation of Legacy Mine TMDLs (removal of mine waste piles, tailings, installation of bulkheads) Piping of irrigation ditches to address leaching of selenium from selenium rich soils Streambank Restoration / Stabilization Watershed Plans Gathering Data and Reporting WQ Results Outreach and Education as part of Implementation Projects = Rapid Restoration (emergency reserve)

Project must be consistent with the 2012 Colorado Nonpoint Source Management Plan Implementation projects that constructs on-the- ground best management practices (BMPs) Watershed plan project that develops or updates EPA nine element for a watershed The project includes a public education and outreach task The project does not meet a discharge permit requirement(s), including discharge permit application requirements The project is not located within sites designated on the EPA Superfund Program National Priority List (NPL)

Federal Grant Award typically $1.9 million dollars per year Available for projects after staff support: ~$940,000 for restoring impaired waters ~$137,000 for other programmatic activities Non-federal matching funds equal to at least 40% of the NPS contribution are required Match can be cash and/or in-kind Maximum Award Amount? No, depends on Scope of Work Other Funding Sources – State, local and federal partners

2013 August 22 - Consultation Day (concept papers) October 18 - Funding announcement released and application materials available at www.npscolorado.com.www.npscolorado.com December 6 - Last day to receive application assistance from NPS Program staff December 13 - Answers to questions received during application assistance period posted at www.npscolorado.comwww.npscolorado.com 2014 January 8 - Deadline for receipt of grant applications, 5:00 pm MST January - Applications screened February - Applications evaluated – NPS program staff and Alliance March 10 - Funding recommendations to the Water Quality Control Commission (WQCC) - AAH March 30 - Funding notification to applicants April – November 30 - PIP finalization and approval (EPA required) July – September - Anticipated timeframe for State’s receipt of federal grant November - February 2015 - Contracting
