1 International Cooperation International cooperation will be a cross-cutting issue in H2020; The approach will be similar to FP7 practice and may include a general opening of the programme, targeted openings, horizontal actions on international cooperation, and coordinated calls; Collaborative actions with specific third countries or their groups will be implemented on the basis of common interest and mutual benefit; Reciprocal access to third country programmes will be encouraged; Participants from certain middle income countries (BRIC and Mexico) will no longer be eligible for automatic EC funding.

4 International Cooperation EU-Japan Coordinated Call: to be published on 7 Jan 2014 EUJ 1 – 2014: Technologies combining big data, internet of things in the cloud (€1.5M) EUJ 2 – 2014: Optical communications (€1.5M) EUJ 3 – 2014: Access networks for densely located users (€1.5M) EUJ 4 – 2014: Experimentation and development on federated Japan – EU test-beds (€1.5)

5 International Cooperation ICT 38 – 2015: International partnership building and support to dialogues with high income countries (€3M): to be published on 15 July 2014 Specific Challenge: to provide for discussions with third countries on areas of common interest and to provide support to collaboration within the ICT research and innovation domains. Scope: The twofold target is to support dialogues between the European Commission/the EU and strategic high income partner countries and regions, and to foster cooperation with strategic high income third country organisations in collaborative ICT R&D both within the EU's Framework Programmes (Horizon 2020) and under relevant third country programmes. Targeted high income countries/regions Subgroup 1: North America (Canada, USA) Subgroup 2: East Asia/Oceania (Australia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan) Type of project: CSA

6 International Cooperation ICT 39 – 2015: International partnership building in low and middle income countries (€11M), to be published on 15 July 2014 Specific Challenge: To reinforce cooperation and strategic partnership with selected countries and regions in areas of mutual interest. Targeted countries: Low and middle income countries in sub-Saharan Africa Type of project: Research & Innovation Actions – Small project proposals are expected (btw €2M-€4M)
