Certificates of Proficiency & Technical Certificate in Power Sports Engines Technology Students will gain the skills to service and repair off-road recreational vehicles that include all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), golf carts, off road motorcycles, outboard motors and some turf management equipment. The program will be offered at the ASU-Searcy Regional Career Center.

Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy Assisting The program is designed to train students for careers as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Employers in southwest Arkansas and east Texas have expressed a need for COTAs to provide services to hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes and home health agencies.

Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering The biomedical engineering program is designed to prepare students for human healthcare by interfacing engineering, medical, and biological sciences. Students will focus on applications of bioengineering to prevent, detect, and treat medical conditions. Graduates will receive preparation for medical school as well as be able to succeed in the practice of engineering.

Associate of Applied Science in Nursing The program is designed to give Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) the option to pursue a Registered Nurse (RN) degree. Graduates will be eligible to apply for a RN license through the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.

Relevant Information $2.0 million for 15 years @ a rate not to exceed 4.0% Education & General purposes Revenue Funding Sources: Tuition and Fees Proceeds will be used to fund the construction of a classroom building in Jonesboro for the Arkansas State University-Newport Technical Center Based on 14,000 gross square feet, $35,000 will be transferred annually for maintenance (14,000 x $2.50 = 35,000)

Relevant Information $19.64 million for 30 years @ a rate not to exceed 5.5% Auxiliary purposes Revenue Funding Sources: Net Auxiliary Revenues Proceeds will be used to acquire, construct, and equip new housing facilities including 5 Greek housing facilities, a new honors residence hall and for improvements to Kays Hall (residence hall) – new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system Based on 68,974 square feet $86,218 will be transferred to plant funds annually. (68,974 x $1.25)

Revised Operating Recommendation for Fiscal 2013 FY13 Operating Recommendation approved by the AHECB on Dec. 2, 2011, did not include new special language regarding the 1890 matching funds for UAPB Recommendation is amended to include 100% matching funds for the 1890 Research and Extension Program Increases the Operating Recommendation by $850,000.
