Plasma is the liquid portion of blood – in which red and white blood cells and platelets are suspended. helps in maintaining good blood pressure and supplies critical proteins for blood clotting and immunity. The need is constant. The gratification is instant. Give blood. TM What are blood types? There are four main types of blood: A, B, O and AB Every person has a blood type. Each blood type can also be positive (+) or negative (-)

TM The perfect match To make sure a blood transfusion is safe, the blood that is given to the patient must match the patient’s blood type. Group O can donate red blood cells to anybody. It’s the universal donor. Group A can donate red blood cells to A’s and AB’s. Group B can donate red blood cells to B’s and AB’s Group AB can donate to other AB’s but can receive from all others.

The Rh can be either present (+) or absent ( – ). Rh negative blood is given to Rh-negative patients, Rh positive blood or Rh negative blood may be given to Rh positive patients. –– + – +
