Colloquialism
Definition – words or phrases that people use when talking to each other aren’t used in formal language.
“How’s it going?” and “What’s happening?” are colloquialisms for “How are you?”

2. Examples of Colloquialism
She was recently dumped by her fiancé.(Dumped is a colloquialism for breaking up with someone, because instead of saying “I’m breaking up with you.” most people say “I’m dumping you.”
Some forms of colloquialism are “y’all” or “gonna” or “wanna” because those are words we use when talking to other people that aren’t formal language.

3. Examples of Colloquialism in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
“You don’t know about me without you have read a book by the name of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, but that ain’t no matter.”
“What's the use you learning to do right, when it's troublesome to do right and ain't no trouble to do wrong, and the wages is just the same?“
“There warn't anybody at the church, except maybe a hog or two, for there warn't any lock on the door, and hogs likes a puncheon floor in summer-time because it's cool.”
“I do believe he cared just as much for his people as white folks does for their'n.”
