NSS-03-01 SMC/XR Template SMC April 2008; rev19 Program Management
Usage Note: This flow chart has been modified using information from NSS03-01, DoD 5000 and other applicable documentation for use by SMC/XR as a training aid/template (including some draft documentation) It has been tailored for that organizations use and other organizations may follow a different/modified version of what is presented here Planning, DEPSECDEF Oversight Budgeting & Execution Programming, DoD R Effective Interaction is Essential NSS Decision Support Systems Pre KDP-A Concept Studies Phase A Concept Development Joint Capabilities Development System Integration & CJCSI F VCJCS Oversight Space Acquisition National Security NSS-03-01 Process JCIDS process, architecting process, and operators/using entities develop JCIDS products (e.g., Initial Capabilities Development Document (CDD), Joint Operation Concepts, etc.) with support from space acquisition organizations as requested. Once it is clear that a space system needs to be acquired, J8 will notify DoD Space MDA. ICD Includes concept studies, assessments and requirements (e.g., technology development, Capability Development Document). During this phase, baseline development is mature enough to enter the formal acquisition process.
