1 PRoBE Presentation Partnerships for Results Based Evaluation Social Skills 7 th and 8 th Grade Missouri State University In Partial Fulfillment of Requirements for School Counselor Internship COU 783 Jerilie DeGuire Spring 2010 Dr. Marci Dowdy, Faculty

2 Critical Problem This intervention was used for the purpose of teaching students better social skills in hopes of decreasing discipline referral while at the same time increasing attendance and overall awareness of self and others.

3 SIMS Students, Interventions, Measurements and Settings Students: 7 th and 8 th grade students were identified through team core teachers, the process coordinator, and the counselor. Interventions: Counselor met with students in small group setting for 6 consecutive weeks. Measurements: Pre-Post Anger Assessment Survey Pre-Post Interpersonal Relationships Checklist I & II, Pre-Post Teacher Observations, Attendance, Discipline referral, Student Post-Group Perceptions. Setting: Counselor met with students every Monday or Friday in the Counseling office conference room at Camdenton Middle School during homeroom which consisted of approximately 45 minutes.
