4 Professional and Technical Education Pathway
New provisional CTE teacher hire in specific trade clusters (Autotech, CISCO, Culinary Arts, etc). They receive PTE (Grades 7-12) Evaluation for Certification form from their district HR. Based on COMAR regulations. Form indicates their Option type (I – IV). UMES BMI offers the four professional courses. Basic Skills test they must complete: Either Praxis I, Praxis (3) CORE, SAT, ACT or GRE.

6 Spring 2015 PTE Classes in Baltimore
EDSP 432 Differentiated Learning in CTE. Online meets first Saturday of semester. Three sections. Very rigorous course. Do not take with any other courses. EDTE 368 CTE Teaching Methods. Online with Charles Hagan. EDTE 481 (Lab) Facilities, Organization & Management. Wednesday nights with Melvin Gill. EDTE 368 and EDTE 481 are hybrid, meaning they meet every other week in face, otherwise online in Blackboard. These classes are also offered in the Easton, Princess Anne, Prince Georges, and Calvert.

10 Work-Based Learning Endorsement
Three courses that add value to your teacher license. Work-Based Learning Endorsement means that you can teach and supervise CRD or WBL students who leave campus to work. Endorsement provides flexibility to school principals for educators teaching in low enrollment programs. Courses may be taken at undergraduate (non-degree seeking) or graduate level at BMI.

EDTE 467 Instructional Analysis and Curriculum Development in WBL offered in Fall. CTED 665 Work-Based Learning: Instructional Management and Curriculum Development (new graduate elective class starting Fall 2016) Offered at BMI, Westminster and Easton sites every other week face/online in Blackboard

12 WBL Coordination Course
EDTE 480 Coordination of Work-Based Learning Programs CTED 607 Coordination of Work Experience Programs (Graduate level elective) Offered in Spring semester at BMI and across the state.

13 Industry Visits Course
EDTE 445 American Industry and Global Competition CTED 665 Contemporary Workplace Practices (New Graduate elective starting summer 2016) Offered in Baltimore in July. Meets one time at BMI and then five days of site visits with industry

14 Other CTE Courses EDTE 437 Student Assessment Performance (Spring)
EDTE 440 Integrating Math & Science in Occupational Education (Spring) EDTE 370 Methods II (Spring) EDTE 485 Safety in CTE (July six day course) EDTE 487 Foundations of Technology (July-6 days) These courses may count towards APC, professional development or General Secondary certification.
