3. What was Chernobyl?  A nuclear power plant in Ukraine.  April 26, 1986, It set fire.  Radiation was in air.  Worst nuclear disaster.

4. How did it happen?  Running tests  Unexpected power surge  Explosions set fire to plant

5. Causes  Inexperienced workers  Faulty Soviet reactor design  All safety was ignored

6. Effects  Radiation rised about 1 km.  Radiation carried by wind.  Evacuation of over 200,000 people.

7. Aftermath  High death rate for clean up workers  Thyroid cancer  Infected topsoil, groundwater, and surface water

8. Casualties  Not completely sure.  Some say 4,000  Some say up to 500,000 are linked to Chernobyl.
