3 International Ice Patrol Why the International Ice Charting Working Group? 2002 Changes to the Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS).

4 International Cooperation Improve & Expand Delivery of International Ice Patrol Products. Utilize Cooperation/Partnerships to Improve Remote Sensing of Icebergs.

5 IIP Product Delivery The IICWG offers a unique opportunity to monitor, measure, expand & improve the delivery of all International Ice Patrol Products to our customer--the North Atlantic Mariner. Already seeing success in broadcast of IIP products by German Federal Maritime & Hydrographic Agency.

6 Improve Iceberg Detection Leverage the cooperation & partnerships of the IICWG to ensure iceberg detection & tracking are included and/or furthered in remote sensing efforts. Canada/U.S. cooperation a model--need to build on and expand these successes.

7 Satellite Remote Sensing of Icebergs Resolution and Coverage Detection and Identification Availability and Timeliness Access and Cost

8 Changes to The Safety of Life at Sea Convention Makes Use of Ice Patrol Services Mandatory. Ice Season and Area of Responsibility and Applicable Routes Specifically Defined. Formally Recognizes the Contributions of Canada. Three Year Averaging System for Billing.
