2 Welcome! This workshop has been developed for Eighth Western Rivers Boat Crew Qualified Personnel (BCQP) as a review of basic surface operations processes and procedures to better promote safety and efficiency for patrols. Eighth Western Rivers 2015 Operations Workshop 3 While not all encompassing, the topics discussed herein are issues that are of significant importance to our OIAs, DIRAUX/OTO or have been known to be the source of problems in recent years. This workshop is intended to serve as a primer for the upcoming operational boating season. Members are encouraged to frequently review references & PQS tasks to maintain proficiency.

4 Required Workshops for OPS Attend this mandatory refresher workshop –Must be completed by June 1 st as per AUXOPS Policy Manual –Coxswains, Crew and PWO Attend the mandatory 1 hour TCT refresher –Must be completed by 31 December –Annual refresher is waived if 5-year 4-hour TCT is completed in the same year Eighth Western Rivers 2015 Operations Workshop 4

16 AOM Reminders Patrols should start and end with some standby time (23A) for pre & post u/w activities (GAR, briefing, de-briefing, etc.) Patrol orders are good for a 24 hour period from the first itinerary entry Request multiple orders for multiple days Time in the itinerary must be consecutive with no gaps. One category ends at 1200, the next begins at 1200, NOT 1201 or later. 2015 Operations Workshop Response Directorate 16

17 Trailering Trailering the day before and/or after a mission requires a separate patrol order –In the comments section state “orders for trailering only” –If only one member is trailering the facility, an e-mail must be sent through the appropriate chain so a crew over ride may be completed Eighth Western Rivers 2015 Operations Workshop 17

18 Trailering Items to remember when completing a trailering only order –In the itinerary section of the order, you must have the trailering line and a line for underway time not to exceed 1/10 th of an hour –Only vehicle mileage is listed on the patrol order DO NOT put in a $.01 in the Fuel Total Box. 19 Radio Facility Orders Multiple radios utilized on a mission require only one AOM Order. The primary radio of the mission is the facility the order is issued for and each additional radio is listed in the comments section. Eighth Western Rivers 2015 Operations Workshop 19

20 If a member has a trailer which houses the radios used for a mission, each radio does not need to be offered for use. Instead the trailer and radios should be offered for use as one mobile facility. Eighth Western Rivers 2015 Operations Workshop 20 Radio Facility Orders

42 Currency Maintenance Log 12 hours underway annually Coxswains may log 12 hours as crew or coxswain Members responsible for meeting currency maintenance requirements Trailering hours do NOT count for underway time for currency maintenance.
