Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 2 Standard Requirements Both the machine and the Safety System are designed to meet the following standards:  CE - European Standard  UL - American Standard

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 3 Safety Loop on the Machine The safety system on the machine is based on a 24 VDC 1.24v loop comes from the 24v P.S. 2.The loop passes through the head carriage E.S sensors (on the head carriage frame) right and left E.S, rear E.S laser relay and to the pneumatic panel. 3.The loop continues to the Over flow board and to the Ink system relay. 4.Ink board receives the 24vdc and operate the ink system. 5.The Rip2CCB receives the 24vdc and transfers it to the motion controller.

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 4 Safety Loop on the Machine (Cont.) 6.The loop passes through the free fall service switch, if it’s in Service position – the drivers shut down and the loop continues to the laser Assy and making a shortcut between pins 14 and 21. 7.If the service switch in not in Service position – the loop continues and the +24vdc passes to the K3 contactor inside the PDU. 8.Together with the –24v, it comes directly from the 24v P.S, enabling the K3 contactor and the motion system to work. 9.A signal comes out from the PDU (K3 contactor) to the motion controller, which, in turn, gives a signal if there is an emergency interrupt. 10.Right and left limit switches close a loop on the motion controller (inputs only – pins 2 and 10 on J5) – if the loop is open – Print will not be performed.

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 5 Safety Hazards in the Machine 1.Motion system 2.Pneumatic system 3.Heating system 4.Ink system All the above mentioned elements halt, shutdown or are released when an E.S circuit is activated.

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 6 Safety Hazards in the Machine (Cont.) 1.Motion system  Head carriage movement 2m/sec  Y-shaft movement with Pressure Roller  Z-shaft movement with Teflon Pressure Roller  T-rollers movement

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 7 Safety Hazards in the Machine (Cont.) 2.Pneumatic system  Roller pressure up and down movement.  Z-shaft up and down movement.  Teflon pressure roll and z-shaft in free-fall mode.

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 8 Safety Hazards in the Machine (Cont.) 3.Heating system  IR heating lamps 900º C.  Heating table 100º C.  Media surface 60º C.

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 9 Safety Hazards in the Machine (Cont.) 4.Ink system  Ink pumps continue to work even in case of leakage. All the above described elements halt, shutdown or are released when an E.S circuit is activated.

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 10 E.S. Circuit Operation 1.Motion system  Power of 220V to drivers X, Y, Z, T is cut off.  Emergency circuit in motor controller is turned on, and the drivers are disabled. 2.Pneumatic system  24V for pneumatic panel is turned off  Z-shaft moves up immediately  Roller pressure moves down immediately

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 11 E.S. Circuit Operation 3.Heating system  Power for IR heating lamps is cut off 4.Ink system  24V for ink pumps is cut off

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 12 Automatically Activated Safety Features 1.Head carriage movement freezes when:  An obstacle blocks the motion protecting frame  The cover is removed  One of the doors (side door, front door) is open  Mounting one of the night covers Note: Heads Carriage Safety frame is attached to the E.S circuit from machine 2023. 2.The heating system shuts down when:  The temperature in the hood rises above 120º  The fans are not supplied with Electricity

Engineer Training XL1500 Safety System Confidential 13 Mechanical Safety Features Z shaft Two pins block the shaft from moving down.
