Radiographs of Upper Extremity and Back Many radiographs are from the collection of the Department of Radiology, Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine; labeling of those images done by Matt Harper, Class of 2010
2
PA Radiograph of lumbar spine 1- Body of vertebra T12 2- Rib 12 3- Transverse process of L1 4- Spinous process of L1 5- Pedicle of L2 6- Inferior articular facet of L3 vertebra 7- Superior articular facet of L4 vertebra 8- Body of Vertebra L4 9 - Spinous process of L5 10 - Sacroiliac joint 11- Location of intervertebral disc

SCOLIOSIS
4
TREATMENT OF SCOLIOSIS Anterior-posterior radiograph of scoliosis patient after insertion of metal rods to 'fuse' adjacent vertebrae. Rods prevent movement between vertebrae due to compression or stretching of lumbar spinal nerves (pain in lower extremities).
5
SHOULDER AND ARM OF 4.5 YEAR OLD CHILD Long bones grow at plates of cartilage called epiphyses (or epiphyseal plates). Epiphyses become ossified at different ages but are readily apparent in young children. Cartilage is not as dense as bone and appears darker in radiographs. DO NOT MISTAKE EPIPHYSES FOR FRACTURES 1. Head of humerus 2. Epiphyseal plate 3. Epiphysis of lateral epicondyle of humerus
6
Healing fracture of humerus

Arteriogram of Brachial Artery and Branches: Elbow Anastomosis 1- Brachial artery 2- Radial artery 3- Radial recurrent artery 4- Ulnar artery 5- Ulnar recurrent artery 6- Common interosseus artery dividing into anterior and posterior interosseus arteries 7- Distal part of Ulnar Artery
10
ANGIOGRAM OF AXILLARY ARTERY 1- Subclavian a. 2- Axillary ax. 3- Thoracoacromial a. 4- Lateral Thoracic a. 5- Subscapular a. 6. Post. Humeral Circumflex a. 7- Brachial a. 8- Profunda brachii (Deep brachial) a.
