What is Newton’s 0 th Law? There are forces acting on every object on earth, and in a certain instant an object responds only to the forces acting on it at that particular instant.

ScenarioTypes of Forces Direction?Balanced? A 2N ball in free fall A 1N book sitting on the table Maurice pushes the table to the right
3
Stop and Jot! Draw the forces acting on a 1N book sitting on the table.

How do we draw Free Body Diagrams? 1.Identify which object you are going to draw. You should only draw one object. 2. Identify all forces acting on an object and the direction in which they act 3. Draw the object simply and draw a point in the middle. 4. Draw each force as an arrow starting at the point and going in the direction listed. -When the strength of two forces is equal, arrow length is equal. -When one force is stronger, it is drawn as a longer arrow. 5. Label each arrow with the force name and magnitude.

10-minute Practice Draw a free body diagram for the following situations: 1.A 0.5N phone sitting on a table 2.A 1Newton ball on the ground being kicked to the right with force 10 Newtons. 3.A 2N ball hanging on a string. 4.A 75N person being tackled from the right with a force 50 N.
6
Exit Slip Draw a free body diagram for a 10N box being pushed to the left with a force of 40N.
