7. Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a temple for the name of the Lord God of Israel. 1 Kings 8:17-18

8. But the Lord said to my father David, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a temple for My name, you did well that it was in your heart. 1 Kings 8:17-18

9. Desiring God’s Permanent Presence God tells David he cannot do this - tells David it was good to desire this - tells David unable, unqualified to do - Reminds David of history of this - Reminds David that not Biblical

10. But God said to me, ‘You shall not build a house for My name, because you have been a man of war and have shed blood.’ 1 Chronicles 28:2-3

21. For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:1
