1832 January 16 Santiago, Cape Verde Islands o Darwin made his first discovery - a horizontal white band of shells within a cliff face along the shoreline about forty- five feet above sea level.

South American Stops February 1832: Salvador, Brazil Darwin reaches Brazil and explores a tropical rainforest for the first time. He begins to take notice of immense amount of plants and animals, as well as the beautiful of flowers in the rainforest September 1832 Punta Alta, Argentina In Punta Alta, Darwin discovers some giant fossil. “Some of the animals must have been of great dimensions! I am almost sure that many of them are quite new.”

South American Stops December 1832: Tierra Del Fuego Argentina True to his faith, Captain FitzRoy attempts to start a Christian mission here, but fails miserably. March 1833: Falkland Islands Darwin, at first, is disappointed by these islands, but is excited to find fossils inside rocks that were full of brachiopods 1833 November 14 Darwin explored Mercedes region of Uruguay where he found the head of a fossilized Tuxedos, a hippo- like animal. He also found a few other fossil remains near by.

1835 January- Feburary: Chiloe Island, Chile Darwin sees Mount Osomo erupt while on the island of Chiloe and experiences the earthquake for the first time in Valdivia. September- September 1835 Galapagos Islands Darwin’s observations and collections contributed to the inception of his theory of evolution by natural selection.

1835 December 21 : New Zealand 1836 January 12 : Sydney, Australia -Darwin wrote to his sister that he was 'looking forward with more pleasure to seeing Sydney, than to any other part of the voyage'. -Darwin was stunned to find a completely different set of mammals in Australia

1836 April 1 : Cocos Island -The islands were composed entirely of coral reef. Darwin studied coral reefs growing around islands to test his theory of coral reef formulation. 1836 May 31: Cape Town -The Beagle sailed around the southern tip of Africa and anchored at Simon's Bay near Cape Town.

1836 July 8 : St. Helena Island Darwin spent most of his time here exploring the geology of the island. 1836 August : Bahia and Permambucio South America In the jungles of South America, Darwin discovers many incredible creatures

October 2 1836 : Falmouth, England H.M.S Beagle finally arrived home after a voyage of five years!
