History a group of entertainment attractions and rides and other events in a location for the enjoyment of large numbers of people evolved in Europe from fairs and pleasure gardens which were created for people's recreation

Ups and Downs During the 1860’s, people started working fewer hours and spent time at amusement parks During rough economic times, amusement parks have suffered – During the Great Depression there was a decline in the industry – During the 50’s – urban decay lead to a decline in the industry

Article Questions Make a list of all the reasons why people are drawn to amusement parks? What are thrill rides? Why do parks continue to invest in new attractions? Designers continue to build the extreme rides. What will cause them to stop building them? Are there any standards for rides? List the rides that hold records (include the record they have)
