3 Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882 –1945) Born on January 30, 1882 at Hyde Park, New York, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was America’s thirty-second President. Roosevelt was elected President in November, 1932, and re-elected in 1936. As a response to WWII, Roosevelt “devoted much thought to the planning of a United Nations, in which, he hoped, international difficulties could be settled.” On April 12, 1945, in Warm Springs, Georgia, he died of a cerebral hemorrhage.

4 Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965) Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965) Son of Randolph Churchill, a Conservative politician, Winston Leonard Spencer was born on November 30, 1874, in Woodstock, Great Britain. On May 10, 1940, Churchill was appointed Prime Minister by George VI. Churchill developed a strong relationship with Franklin D. Roosevelt, and this led to the sharing and trading of war supplies. Retired from politics in 1955, and after several strokes, Churchill died on January 24, 1965.

As for the Japanese, they would be ground to powder." - Prime Minister Winston Churchill (1941) Winston Churchill was moved by the attack on Pearl Harbor, and informed Roosevelt that British colonies in Southeast Asia had been attacked also. The union of these two leaders led to the declaration of war against Japan, supported by Germany and Italy.
