6. Review of vision 2020
During XII plan, suburban traffic growth is about 3% and non – suburban about 5%
XIII plan, terminal year , expected growth 4% in suburban and 7% non – suburban
Expected demand about 4000 coaches per year currently, may go up to about 7000 per year by end of XIII plan
Requirement of wagons presently 12,500 wagons per year is likely to go up to about by end of XIII plan
Number of locos required in next five years is expected to vary between 3100 to 3400

7. Technological developments
Introduction of 160/200 KMPH coaching trains
Possibility of manufacture of HP electric locos and 6000 HP diesel locos
Possibility of manufacture of aluminium coaches
Introduction of 25 T axle load wagons
Possibility of introduction of 32.5 T axle load wagons

8. Need for PPP projects in Rolling Stock
Capacity augmentation to bridge the gap between demand for new rolling stock and existing capacity
Resource mobilization of Rs Billion rupees to bridge the gap between internal generation and budgetary support
Induction of new State-of-art Technology
