Copyright © Florida International University, Miami, FL 33199 www.entrepreneurship.fiu.edu The Beginning The Global Entrepreneurship Center (GEC) was started in 2003 with an award of a Kauffman Collegiate Entrepreneurship Network (KCEN) Grant for $50,000. The Center designed from beginning as a cross- campus activity by the College of Business Administration and the College of Engineering. Later the Colleges of Arts & Sciences and Education join.

Research oriented universities only. Mixture of public and private universities. Majority and minority oriented institutions. Campuses from around the country. Looking for “out of the box” proposals.

Final Proposals sent to Kauffman in October. Presented to Kauffman in November. 8 chosen in December for gifts.
