When The Civil War Started The Civil War Began At 4:10 A.M. On April 12,1861 When Fort Sumter Was Attacked. The first real battle was in Manassas,1861 Virginia on July 21,1861 and was called the “The First Battle of Bull Run”.

Causes Of The Civil War Economic and social differences between the north and the south. Growth of the abolition movement. The election of Abraham Lincoln. States were arguing about federal rights.

Some Important Battles Of The Civil War Battle of Gettysburg was on April 1,1863 to April 3,1863 and was the largest,most costly battle in U.S. history. Battle at Fort Sumter was from April 12,1861 to April 13,1861 where the Bastion surrendered and there were no casualties.

Civil War Generals Ulysses S. Grant was the best U.S. civil war general, because he rescued and freed a lot of people like the Army Of The Cumberland. Another great civil war general was Robert E. Lee because he won about seven battles during the civil war.

Civil War Weapons The mortar was a device that was easy to use and was used by one man alone. An explosive shell is fired high into the air and explodes on impact. The cannon was heavy and large, it usually needed 16 horses to pull it, and they needed to put them into position before the battle began.It fired large iron balls that could destroy forts easily.

More Civil War Weapons There were two types of musket; the matchlock and the flintlock, which could be as long as five feet and had a firing range of up to 300 yards.

Effects Of The Civil War On September 22, 1862 Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which freed all slaves in the south as of January 1, 1863. After the civil war the United States was faced with the challenge of rebuilding both the South, the relationship between states, and the federal government.

The Last Battle Of The Civil War The Battle of Appomattox was the last battle of the civil war. The battle of Appomattox started on April 8, 1865.It ended on April 9, 1865 when Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant.

Reconstruction Reconstruction was the time period after the civil war, when the union wanted to rejoin the United States. The south's economy was destroyed.
