11
Conclusions - recommendations Compare with investments in transport sector, base on a time frame of at least 15 - 20 years Case studies are a suitable method for identifying benefits, also impact on society When selecting a case study carry out a pre-study 1) Choose use of information systems as starting point 2) Follow up by focusing on type of information Repeat the studies at intervals of a few years, develop a dialogue concerning cost benefits and benefits for society
12
Helps structure information about activities Helps structure information about activities Carrier of activity-specific information Search path to other information Provides overview and general orientation re situation Key to co-ordination or links
13
Geographic information helps structure information Carrier of information for specific activities Search key Provides overview and general orientation re situation Key to co-ordination and links between activities under different authorities Basis for entry and storage of information
14
Real property information helps structure information Search path to map-based information Key to co-ordination and links between different activities Basis for entry and storage of property-related cases

Strategic impact Competitive advantages and improved marketing Better environment Better combined utilisation of resources Better quality and quicker decisions
19
Financial impact Cheaper services Lower administrative cost per case or service Large returns on investments
20
Planning & building - county administration Cost & Benefit
21
Impact on co-operating partners Co-operation between sectors in calculating benefits etc. New types of networks are created Stimulates multi-sectorial co-operation Facilitates parallel working processes
22
Impact on individuals and companies More refined products Better service and participation for individuals Services carried out more quickly Greater participation Decreased risk for misunderstandings
23
Impact on development and renewal Impact on development and renewal More modern working methods Updated competence Facilitates work with new tasks
24
Impact on internal organisation More reliable information More effective working routines Better working environment Work is more stimulating and flexible
25
New services Communications Customised production and delivery of forest products Just-in-time deliveries Postal services for marketing and customer service Simulation of future developments
26
New services, continued Real property market Quicker and more reliable handling of applications for loans via IT network Property valuation and marketing related to the local environment Simulation of future developments of a property’s close-environment
