The Loss of our Salvation

The Nature of Salvation Salvation Is Not Fragile: Christians Can Be & Should Be Confident –Hebrews 6:18-19 –2 Timothy 4:8 Salvation Is Not Indestructible: Christians Must Be Cautious –1 Corinthians 9:27 Those Who Do Not Walk In The Light Will Be Punished In Eternity –1 John 1:6-7, 2 Thessalonians 1:6-9

Why Believe Salvation Can Be Lost? Because We Have Free-Will Because God Warns Christians Not To Fall Away Because Of The Danger of False Doctrine Because Of The Danger of Immorality Because “Once Saved, Always Saved” Arguments Are So Weak

Because We Have Free Will Foundational Concept Established Even In The Old Testament –“…choose for yourselves…”(Joshua 24:15) God Takes No Pleasure In Condemning People, But Will Not Over-ride Our Will –Ezekiel 18:20-23, 32 If The Righteous Choose To Reject God, Even They Will Be Punished –Ezekiel 18:24-26

Because God Warns Christians Not To Fall Away Salvation Is Based On A Reliable, Yet Conditional Promise –“If” 1 Corinthians 15:1-2 –“If” 2 Peter 2:20 Christians Are Extra-Accountable To Continue In Faith –Luke 12:47 and Hebrews 10:29 God Calls Us To Be Faithful Until Our Death –Revelation 2:10

Because Of The Danger Of False Doctrine God Foretold That Some Would Fall From The Faith: 1 Timothy 4:1 Peter’s Warning To Christians –(2 Peter 2:1) “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.” –(2 Peter 3:17) “You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,”

Because Of The Danger Of Immorality (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

Because Of The Danger Of Immorality (Galatians 5:19-21) Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Because “Once Save, Always Saved” Arguments Are Weak Doesn’t Eternal Life = Eternally Secured? –No! (John 3:36, Hebrews 3:6,14) Isn’t It Impossible For Christians To Sin? –No! (1 John 3:9) Greek: “morally unable” not “physically impossible” Doesn’t The Power of God Prevent It? –No! (John 10:27-30) God will not use His power to deny you of your free will. Maybe Those People Weren’t Saved To Begin With? –No! (1 John 2:19) Hypotheticals prove nothing.

The Good News About Conditional Salvation The Fallen Can Be Restored! –Gal. 6:1 The Only Thing Holding People Back From Restoration Is Their Choices! –“it is impossible to renew them again to repentance…” (Hebrews 6:4-6) God Is Able To Restore You! –Romans 11:19-23
