INTRODUCTION u Not all engine repair operations require engine removal. u The engine must be removed when performing a complete rebuild. u Most cars are FWD. u Most trucks are RWD. u Completely disassembly after removal. CBCAUTOMOTIVERKCBCAUTOMOTIVERK

PREPARING the ENGINE for REMOVAL u Develop a plan for removing the engine. u Determine what tools are needed. u Study recommended procedure. u Position chain directly over center of engine. u Disconnect Battery. See caution. CBCAUTOMOTIVERKCBCAUTOMOTIVERK Page 157 Class 149 Lab

REMOVING THE ENGINE u Protect paint and finish of the vehicle. u Protect radiator and/or condenser. u Support the transmission/transaxle. u Remove engine from above if possible. u Use factory lift points.
