12 What is a Group? 12 A group in Jam is a shared workspace centered around a specific purpose. Collaboration is shared from a one to many or many to many point of view Groups are where social documents, wikis, blogs, discussions, videos and other tools can be shared, edited and viewed.

14 Groups- teams 14 Team is a grouping whose common interest is the TEAM they belong to. Stable membership and content Focused on team spaces Primarily use group as medium for communication

15 Groups- teams 15 EXAMPLES Company-wide— Employee Communications, Newsletters, CEO Blogs, Sales Win Announcements Department Information — visible to the rest of the company. Information about what the department does, how to contact Department Teams — work area for teams, meeting notes, action items Country / Regions / Office Locations Tiger/SWAT Teams — cross functional teams

16 Groups- Projects A group whose common interest is the PROJECT they are working on. They are often cross functional team members. Changing membership or content (project) Focused on work specifications Primarily use group as a medium for storing documentation 16

17 Groups- Projects EXAMPLES Everyday projects -meeting notes, action items, issues lists, discussions for next weeks agenda topics Example: Marketing — coordinating attendance at a technology conference Large projects using Project Management System – Example: Project Stakeholders Updates including issues logs, change logs, change requests and performance reports Ad-hoc groups coming together to support structured business applications (CRM, Financials, Billing, ERP), where there is an issue Example: Revenue recognition issue involving engineering deliverables 17

18 Groups- Communities of Practice 18 A group sharing a COMMON INTEREST around a community of practice- they may have a common use i.e. software or expertise that they share knowledge around. Stable content ALTHOUGH membership is evolving Focus is on creating a “bulletin board” or “meeting space” to circulate ideas Primarily use group as a medium for sharing & learning

20 Auto-Groups If you want membership to a group to be automatic– for example for all your new employees to be included in an On-boarding group– then you can create an AutoGroup. 20

24 Target important messages with Direct Messaging @user – sends a direct message to @user Feed –Most users have configured their account to receive an email for direct messages @@notify in a group – sends a direct message to all members of the group @@notify on your home/profile wall – sends a direct message to all of your followers 24
