Points - Lines - Planes - Geometry and Measurement
2
Point - A location on a line, plane or space. You name a point with a capital letter A B C Lines, Line Segments and Rays
3
A B A line- is a straight path that has no beginning and continues without end in both directions. We say line AB or line BA Lines, Line Segments and Rays
4
A line segment is part of a line. It has two end points. We say line segment CD or line segment DC C D
5
A light beam is a ray. A ray is a part of a line. It has one end point and continues without end in one direction. We say ray EF. E F
6
Two lines on the same plane that never meet are parallel lines. A B C D These symbols tell us that the lines are parallel. AB DC Symbol:
7
Two lines that meet and make a square corner or 90 degree angle are perpendicular lines. Means perpendicular A B C Symbol AB BC
8
Skew lines - are lines not in the same plane that never intersect
9
1.) Name all segments that intersect DE 2.) Name all segments that are parallel to DE 3.) Name all segments that are skew to DE
10
Plane- A flat surface that extends endlessly in all directions Plane ABC A C B
