2. Feelings and Emotions  Denial.  Guilt, shame, self blame.  Feeling helpless.  Stress.  Anger.  Fear for the future.  Isolation.

3. Family Dynamics  Breakdowns and splits.  Relationships with other family, friends and wider community.  Restrictions on other siblings.  Constant stress.  Burnout.  Affects work/loss of job.  Mental illness.

4. Men’s Coping Mechanisms:  Anger, denial, blame.  Take a back seat.  Try not to get involved by leaving mum to deal with.  Anger/frustration/anger.  Looks for all the answers.  Medication from G.P. For stress.  Seeks support.

5. Female Coping Mechanisms.  A need to understand.  Overcome blame an feelings of ‘where did we go wrong’ quicker.  A need to ‘FIX IT’.  Looks for advice and information.  Accesses support.  Willingness to talk to others.

6. Step Fathers.  Feelings of isolation.  Partner not involving him in decisions.  Stress on relationship.  Anger and frustration against drug using step-child.

7. Grandparents:  Isolation.  Financial implications.  Child minding.  Stress.  Lack of support and understanding.  Become primary carer.
