NYS Coastal Management Program Mission: To make waterfront communities better places. Objectives: - Redevelop deteriorated waterfronts - Give priority to water-dependent uses - Provide the public waterfront access for recreation - Preserve historic and aesthetic features - Protect natural resources and habitats - Manage development to improve water quality

NYS Coastal Management Program Local Waterfront Revitalization Programs A comprehensive land and water use plan Can be accomplished in a single effort or through components focusing on a critical issue or discrete geographic area An approved LWRP becomes the basis for action and decisions in the local waterfront area

NYS Coastal Management Program Local Waterfront Revitalization Programs Offers local governments: - 50/50 matching grants for planning, design and construction related to: urban waterfronts, waterbody management plans, community visioning, blueway trails, and coastal education. - Technical assistance to develop and implement community waterfront visions. - Partnerships among state agencies and non-profits to advance local programs.

NYS Department of State - $1.2 million for planning, design, and construction. NYS Department of Environmental Conservation - $561,000 for environmental remediation and stormwater control. NYS Department of Economic Development - $225,000 for initial design competition and infrastructure. NYS Department of Transportation - $1.2 million for harborwalk and ferry facilities. NYS Office of Parks - $500,000 for for acquisition and park construction NYS Governor’s Office for Small Cities - $750,000 for parking and commercial revitalization. NYS Senator LaValle’s Local Assistance Program - $75,000 for acquisition.
