3 Status LBNL: –Two “4MW” + three “300kW” systems shipped to DL –Strip down and rebuild as a test stand CERN: –Two “3MW” systems available at CERN –Request to CERN to refurbish DL/RAL: –New B4616 tubes (1 working LBNL tube) –New TH116 tube bases (purchase in time) –New kW power supplies (Dressler)

4 Progress almost finished: –HV System for 4616 amplifier –Auxiliary systems (heaters, source etc) –Couplers, loads, heaters, plc

5 Plans, timescales Power from 300kW circuit in September ’06 Start work on 116 circuits – power towards end of 2007 – completed test stand. CERN Circuits available end ’07? –Incorporate in test stand

6 Controls & Monitoring Workshop in September ’05 – choice of EPICS Equipment survey: Integrated IOC devices integrate simple interfaces with a linux machine Suitable for small control systems Suitable for beginners

7 ADCs, DACs, DIO, opto-isolated CanBus, ethernet, GPIB, RS232

8 Initial applications: –Target –Hydrogen system Hands on workshop for RAL/Sheffield groups at DL in a couple of weeks –Learning and demonstration systems

9 Plans Lots of available generic hardware solutions Lots of available software –Hardware drivers –System (monitoring, alarms, displays) –Design tools (GUI generators) Specification documents –Hardware (loose) –EPICS database records; –Naming convention (e.g. BLN-VAC-PUMP-04 )
