2 Organization Skills n Schedule your time wisely. n Use a calendar to record tests for the week each Monday. n Write down your assignments daily. n Use colored folders for each subject. Example: blue - math yellow - history red - english orange - science

3 Organization Skills n Create a “Study Buddy” list. n Buy a backpack with pockets and put items in the same place all the time. n Keep books in your desk for the class you’re in. Keep books in your bag that you don’t need.

5 Study Skills n Attendance - Come to school everyday ready to do your best. n Timing - Study harder on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The end of the week will be easier. n Effort - Give it all you’ve got the first three weeks of the grading period. Start off with great grades!

6 Study Skills n Your time - Socialize less during the week and more on the weekends. n Study time - Study 10 minutes for every grade you’ve completed. example: 3rd grade = 30 minutes each day 10th grade = 100 minutes each day **This doesn’t include study time for tests!**

7 Study Skills n Environment - Don’t study in a place that “cues” you to do something other than study. n Sleep - Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep and be consistent! n Mnemonics - Memory-Aiding Device Using letters in a list to make a new word

8 Mnemonics n To remember the order of the planets from the sun: “My Very Elegant Mother Just Served Us Nine Pies.” Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto n To remember the classification of living things: “Kings Play Cards On Fairly Good Soft Velvet.” Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species, Variety n To remember the great lakes: “HOMES” Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior
