7Ld Focus on: Exploring space 5 The Hubble telescope is in orbit around the Earth. Why would a telescope in orbit be able to take better pictures than a telescope on Earth? There is no atmosphere to interfere with the light from the stars.

7Ld Focus on: Exploring space 6 Find out about the following space probes, where they went and what they found out: a) Voyager 1 and 2 Voyager 1 and 2 were unmanned space probes that flew by the outer planets and returned pictures and other information to Earth.

Galileo was sent to Jupiter where it dropped a probe into Jupiter's atmosphere to collect more data about the planet’s surface. It continued to orbit Jupiter for some time, sending data about Jupiter’s moons back to Earth.
