Please take out a piece of paper and title it “Character Change Activity.” You will be completing a series of Descriptive Maps to show how the narrator (Jing-mei) changes. Provide at least ONE direct quote, and ONE paraphrased quote for each section. Example on following slide:

Describe the narrator (Jing-mei) at the beginning (exposition), middle (rising action), and end (falling action) of the story. Jing- Mei Beginning Middle End The character changes (middle)- rising action The character changes (end) - falling action Concrete detail (CD) Agree able “In the beginning, I was just as excited as my mother” (100). She begins to resent that her mom tries to change her. resent- ful “I had new thoughts filled with lots of wont’s. I won’t let her change me I promised myself” (101). Look at your completed descriptive maps. Using your descriptive maps, use the information to complete a body paragraph on how Jing-Mei’s character changes. See format on following slide:
