2 Queries Are soap and drying facilities compulsory in toilet areas? Are soap and drying facilities compulsory in food handling areas? Should we stop recommending electrical hand driers and cloth towels and only recommend disposable hand towels? Are cloth towels acceptable if these are regularly washed? Are toilet seats and toilet covers compulsory in schools?

3 Tap water should by default be potable and therefore signage only required where and if water is not potable; is that correct? Is the provision of hot water for hand washing a legal requirement? What is considered adequate cleaning of plastic toys, soft toys and carpets? What is the frequency of water temperatures that need to be taken and recorded, and do these relate to each individual water basin or record per room? Should water tanks be enumerated?

4 Where sedimentation and algae formation is found in water tanks, what adequate cleaning action would be recommended? One particular report makes the following remark; ‘cold water temperature was found below 13 0 C thus no adverse remarks’; beyond which or under which temp would adverse remarks be made? Hot water should reach 50 0 – 55 0 C within 1 minute; what solution do you offer in this regard, in view of the fact that in order to create an environment conducive to regular washing, we advocate the provision of warm water in school toilets?

5 Which tests for Legionella or microbiological and chemical analysis are to be carried out? Who can carry out these tests and how frequent should these tests be carried out? Which labs can carry out these tests?
