15. Dry litter Sampling (piled or Spreader) The preferred way to sample litter is from collected piles during clean out. Use the following steps: 1. Collect at least 10 shovel full from piles or spreader. 2. Combine in a clean 5 gallon bucked and mix. 3. Place one quart in a plastic bag, seal and ship to the laboratory. 4. Refrigerate sample if not shipped within 24 h. 5. Stockpiled samples should be collected at a dept of 18 inches.

16. Dry Litter Sampling Permitted CAFOs are required to sample litter/manure at a minimum on an annual basis. Non permitted industry sponsored CNMP operations are encouraged to sample on at least an annual basis, but may use an average of samples if management programs have not changed substantially.
