2. Questions  Are Mentos the only thing that makes coke fizz?  What inside Mentos makes coke fizz?  What coke is better to use? Regular or Diet.

3. Research  Both Mentos and Baking soda makes coke fizz  Mentos has sodium in it  Coke has carbon dioxide  Diet coke causes a better reaction, and regular coke makes a big sloppy mess  Mentos Mentos  Soda Fizz Soda Fizz Soda Fizz  Independent variable – Mentos  Dependent – Coke

4. Hypothesis  The carbon hydrates and water molecules (in coke) will cause the coke to fizz up. Sodium and Mentos makes it fizz too. With the three things I'm assuming that the fruit Mentos will have the biggest eruption.

5. Experimental steps  Step 1 – Set up the coke, Mentos, and baking soda  Step 2 – separate the things so everything doesn't get wet  Step 3 – Take out one coke and 3 Mentos, or a spoon full of baking soda  Step 4 – Once your done with every thing hose down table

7. Analysis  Both Mentos gave same reactions, but both eruptions were quick, short, and not so much fizz came out. With the baking soda the eruption started out small and grew in size and lasted longer.

8. Conclusion  My hypothesis was partially wrong, but also right. The carbohydrates and sodium worked together to erupt. Both fruit Mentos and mint Mentos made the same height eruption and lasted the same. The baking soda had a longer lasting eruption, and was taller than than the others.
