2.  The Researcher contacts CYSTAT.  The Researcher discusses project requirements such as variable availability, period(s) of reference, etc, with the Officer responsible for the Survey.  The Researcher is directed to the application form on the website orwebsite to a member of the Internal Confidentiality Committee (ICC) for further information on the the application and incurring costs.  The ICC consists of four members, each coming from a different statistical domain and acts as an advisory board to the Director of CYSTAT.  The application can be submitted via post, email or fax.  Upon reception, the application gets a first, quick overview by a member of the ICC. 19-20 March 2014, DwB, Workshop on Accreditation for Transnational Access to Official Microdata for Research Purposes2

3.  When an application is incomplete, the applicant is contacted to resubmit.  When the application is complete, the ICC is called to convene within the coming working days (if not possible within the same).  The ICC gives an documented recommendation to the Director including costs.  The Director can approve or disapprove the recommendation.  The researcher is contacted by phone or email to be informed on the outcome of the application, the cost and a timeframe for receiving the microdata set. 19-20 March 2014, DwB, Workshop on Accreditation for Transnational Access to Official Microdata for Research Purposes3

4.  A written reply is also sent to the applicant, either by post or by email, depending on the initial means of communication preferred by the applicant.  The Officer responsible for survey, gets the green light to prepare the dataset and inform the researcher when to receive it.  Micro datasets are provided either in CDs or sent by e-mail. In all datasets, direct identifiers such as names, addresses and telephone numbers of the reporting units are removed.  Datasets are provided as soon as the applicant has settled any incurring costs. 19-20 March 2014, DwB, Workshop on Accreditation for Transnational Access to Official Microdata for Research Purposes4
