Obj.#6:Distinguish between the abiotic and biotic factors in an environment.
2
I. Ecosystem-collection of all organisms that live in a particular place, together with their nonliving or physical, environment. Example: Pond Ecosystem
3
II. Population-group of individuals that belong to the same species and live in the same area. Example: Bull Frogs
4
III. Communities- assemblages of different populations. Example: bull frogs, toads, fish
5
IV. Biotic Factors-biological influences on organisms within an ecosystem. The entire living cast with which organisms may interact. Grass, fish, insects
6
THE BULL FROG Biotic factors that influence a bull frog: Fish eats a tadpole. Heron eats adult frog Male frogs compete for space
7
V. Abiotic factors- physicial or non- living factors that shape ecosystems. Sunlight Water Temperature Wind Soil Fire
8
THE BULL FROG Abiotic factors that influence a bull frog: Temperature of water Amount of sunlight
9
VI. Niche-includes abiotic and biotic factors. It’s like the “role” of an organism plays in its ecosystem
