Obj.#6:Distinguish between the abiotic and biotic factors in an environment.

 I. Ecosystem-collection of all organisms that live in a particular place, together with their nonliving or physical, environment.  Example: Pond Ecosystem

 II. Population-group of individuals that belong to the same species and live in the same area.  Example: Bull Frogs

 III. Communities- assemblages of different populations.  Example: bull frogs, toads, fish

 IV. Biotic Factors-biological influences on organisms within an ecosystem. The entire living cast with which organisms may interact. Grass, fish, insects

THE BULL FROG  Biotic factors that influence a bull frog: Fish eats a tadpole. Heron eats adult frog Male frogs compete for space

 V. Abiotic factors- physicial or non- living factors that shape ecosystems.  Sunlight  Water  Temperature  Wind  Soil  Fire

THE BULL FROG  Abiotic factors that influence a bull frog: Temperature of water Amount of sunlight

VI. Niche-includes abiotic and biotic factors. It’s like the “role” of an organism plays in its ecosystem
