Boundless Playgrounds: Removing Barriers to Play On a Boundless™ playground you’ll find: every child can reach the highest play deck play structures configured to support children’s development universally accessible pathways and surfacing cozy spots where everyone can gather equipment like swings and bouncers with back support elevated sand tables and activity panels where children of all abilities can play together sensory-rich activities that let the imagination soar everyone can be in the middle of the fun! 4. Boundless Playgrounds works with playground equipment manufacturers to certify models that meet the Boundless Playgrounds standards. Only projects registered in the Go Play! program can use the name Boundless Playgrounds® for promotion or any other purpose. This enhances your fundraising efforts, giving you greater visibility and credibility and favorably positioning your playground with potential funders. Monitoring and assessment services are provided to confirm that the finished project meets all Boundless Playgrounds criteria to support child development and be barrier-free. Successful completion of the assessment process grants the right to use Boundless Playgrounds’ name on playground signage. Downloadable tools and materials will help you manage your project through the process from planning, to raising awareness and funds, and construction. The presentations, handouts, exercises, and sample materials can help you inform the community and rally support to complete your playground. This dynamic program will be enhanced and expanded on an ongoing basis. 5. The largest area is the Boundless Playscape Area. This is highly interactive with a multitude of play activities. The main areas have recycled poured-in-place rubber fall zone surface with the remaining being fibar (a gentle, treated, mulch like) surfacing. Approximate Cost: $125,000

6. The Brushy Creek Village is a themed play area with 5 small ‘buildings’, simulated streets, signs, and a centralized shallow fountain. This pod simulates the real world and will help with social and safety skills. The village creates a place to act out real world situations

8. The Rock Band Pod consists of several differing types of musical instruments. The surface treatment is recycled poured-in place rubber in a colorful pattern. The instruments face toward a central point to create a band practice setting. This music area increases socialization, provides for the visually impaired, and increases sensory skills.

12. The Sensory Fun Area appeals to several of the senses and is educational as well as fun. It contains a seatwall made of several different types of surfaces; granite, artificial turf, quartz, slate, wood, etc. Each different type will be labeled with the word as well as a braille label. Behind the seatwall is a long, raised planting bed with various scented and textured plants. The open, middle area has 2 types of panels. The first type of panels are from a playground manufacturer. Examples of panels that could be used are driving simulation, gears, mazes. The second panel is a large, handmade wall displaying several textures and colors. The Sensory Fun Pod has a sand box area with a large handicap accessible sand table.

14. Sensory Fun Pod Approximate Cost: $38,000

15. The Island Retreat is made up of specialized individual activities. This pod has elements with ample spacing to provide a calmer, quieter environment. Children can learn individual lessons and/or retreat from the higher activity pods. One amenity is the single bay swings. On one side is a full cradle swing that the child can be in a laying position. Another bay has a traditional swing that a child can use if a quiet place is needed. Two separated tunnels provide a cozy spot for children needing to retreat. Several learning panels align in two semicircles. The panels are divided by a perpendicular panel for individualized play. The centralized play equipment is fully accessible and includes two tunnels connected between several climbing pieces.
