Rochsolloch Primary Pupil Voice
2
We asked… Do you think there is an adult in the school whom you could speak to if you had a worry?
3
Our Pupils said… We have lots of adults in the school we can talk to and trust. The adults listen to us and can help us sort our problems.
4
We asked… Do you receive praise and encouragement in school?
5
Our Pupils said… We get stickers, House points and certificates. Our teachers help and encourage us. They help us when we are stuck. The teacher gives us smiley faces or nice comments in our jotters. We get our work displayed on the Wonderful Work wall. We get to show Mrs McLean and get a Head Teacher’s award.
6
We asked… If you need help or support, do you think you will receive it?
7
Our Pupils said… If you ask the teacher, you will get help. You can talk to the Head Teacher. You can talk to someone you trust. The janitor can help you. The teacher will help you tie your laces in the gym hall.
8
We asked… Do you feel as if you are an important member of the Rochsolloch family?
9
Our Pupils said… Yes, we are all included in school work. Yes, because everyone is equal. Yes, because everyone has their picture on the Family Tree. Yes, because I get to help my teacher and younger children.
10
We asked… Do you feel safe and cared for by the staff?
11
Our Pupils said… Yes we do, because they help you when you are hurt in the playground. There are staff all around in the playground and all over the school. Yes, because we have security locks on the doors so no strangers can get in. If someone isn’t being nice, the staff help you. The staff are kind and loyal to us. They help us and care for us.
12
We asked… Do you feel you are given help to overcome challenges?
13
Our Pupils said… Yes, the staff encourage us. They give us examples of how we should do things and keep us on the right track. If you have a worry, the teachers will listen and talk to you. The teacher will explain things to you personally.
14
We asked… Are you taught about looking after yourself, for example keeping yourself safe, or clean, or healthy?
15
Our Pupils said… We are taught to be all different things at Rochsolloch Primary. We have learned about the SHANARRI indicators. We learn about Road Safety. We have learned about healthy eating.
16
We asked… Do you get opportunities to be part of clubs or groups, which you are interested in and enjoy? Give some examples.
17
Our Pupils said… Yes, we get lots of opportunities. We all get a chance to be part of a club. We have Athletics, Choir, Parkour, Multi Sports. We are all part of a Golden Time club.
18
Some suggestions for Improvements… Have a worry box to write down your worries. Have more toys in the playground. Each class could have a reward for the “Worker of the Week.” Different rewards. Working out of school more often. The teacher could give us an example when we are trying to solve a problem. Give everyone a job in class so everyone feels important. Homework club at lunchtime.
