(What is our mission?)  Some nontraditional factors that deem a tech center successful.

As a table team, introduce yourself by telling your table team what you believe is the most important for your students as they graduate?

5 Southern Regional Education Board TCTW TCTW National Forum, Developing Human Capital is the Issue of our Times, January 14-15, 2009 Measuring Success in Tech Centers Employers say in the next five years: 27.7 percent project their companies will reduce hiring of new entrants with only a high school diploma. 58.8 percent project they will increase hiring of four year college graduates. 49.5 percent project increased hiring of two-year college/technical school graduates. Are they Really Ready to Work?, The Conference Board, Inc., The Partnership for 21 st Century Skills, Corporate Voices for Working Families, and the Society for Human Resource Management, 2006.

Choose a recorder for your table. 2. Discuss how tech centers might overcome these deficiencies for HS graduates, for students going on to two year programs and for students going on to four year institutions? 3. How would you measure success with these practices?

7 Southern Regional Education Board TCTW TCTW National Forum, Developing Human Capital is the Issue of our Times, January 14-15, 2009 Measuring Success in Tech Centers As a table team, reflect on the following questions: 1.How do we measure our new entrants/graduates are capable in these applied and basic knowledge? 2.What policies do we need to put in place to ensure students are capable? 3.How do we need to educate ourselves? 4.What are some examples of best practices?
