Skeleton: Hardware Alignment for EMU meeting James N Bellinger 15-Mar-2009

Things to add Time estimates for repeating the work in May (and August) Time estimates for work TBD: –Transfer Lines –Barrel –Barrel to Endcap Pix from Barrel progress Stuff I’ve forgotten in the skeleton

What we Have Now Link on Plus side Some Link on Minus (serious disk misalignment!) Link to MABs Z for ME+2,3,4, ME-2,3,4, ME+1/2 Z for ME+1/3 about to be blessed Some barrel numbers

Want pix of Marcus’ chamber tilts, updated w/ ME+1/3 –Check Illustrative barrel Z variation w/ field Fit plots for ME+1 –Check Fit plots for ME+2 –Check

ME+2 SLM 2-5 in Z with 10 measurements at B=0T

Laser hits on CCDs ME+2 SLM 2-5 in Z at B=0T

Chamber surface estimates Red=Real Green=Sim MAB ASPD ME12 ASPD ASPD P4 Distancemeter and dists IR target DCOPS dowels Animated

In the pipeline 1.Some X/Y information for ME+/- separately 2.Barrel muon 3.ME-1 4.Refit Endcap using relative X/Y info from step 1 5.Proof of principle linking MAB with Endcaps via Transfer Lines

Hardware-dependant Minus side Link –Disks so badly assembled that components couldn’t talk to each other! MAB DCOPS X/Y End-to-end X/Y –Better care assembling disks –Requires some adjusting of the lasers

Order of Tasks for Endcap Independent validation of data quality in all detectors Stand-alone reconstruction of SLMs and Transfer Lines When Link results are available: Big Bang

Time Estimates IFF –the disks were assembled with reasonable accuracy AND –there were no major hardware failures THEN repeating the work with fresh data in May should be quick—order of a week or two (?) Doing it again in August should be very much easier

But Some tasks will be done for the first time in May: Transfer Line inclusion, for example.
