Environment DEFINITION: everything, both living and nonliving, that surrounds and affects the animal. In an environment suitable for a specific animal, that animal can meet all its basic needs What are the basic needs of animals?

Food All animals need food to grow, stay healthy, and survive.
Each animal requires a different amount of food. For example, a leopard hunts and kills other animals and eats them.

Water Animals get water from water holes, ponds, lakes, rivers, and streams. Some animals rarely drink!

Shelter Shelter protects animals from enemies and harsh weather.
Some animals can even carry their shelter with them! A turtle is one of the animals that carries their shelter.
