Why are cigarettes bad for your health? Cigarettes have over 7,000 chemicals other than nicotine. Chemicals such as acetone (nail polish remover), ammonia cleaner), and urea. The toxic chemical carbon monoxide is released in tobacco smoke and can cause damage in non-smokers when they inhale the smoke. Nicotine, the main addictive ingredient in cigarettes. This chemical causes cravings from smokers that results in them needing to buy more and more of the deadly product. Cigarettes have 70 cancer causing chemicals.
