Pre-Lab 4.1
2
Purpose To determine if you can dissolve all of a solid into a liquid.
3
Procedure Place 5 cm3 of water into a test tube. Place 20 cm3 of water into another test tube. Place.15 g of solid into both tubes Stopper and shake for 2 min. Add.15 g more of solid into both tubes Stopper and shake for 2 min. Add.15 g more of solid into both tubes Stopper and shake for 2 min. Answer all questions, complete paperwork, and clean up.

Pre-Lab 4.3
6
Purpose To find the concentration of a saturated solution.
7
Procedure Mass dry dish, empty Place 5 cm3 of water and 5 g of solid in a test tube and shake for 3 minutes Pour into evaporating dish and mass. Heat slowly and evaporate liquid Mass dry dish and remaining solid Complete calculations. Clean and dry all equipment Answer questions, record data on board, and complete all paperwork.
9
Pre-Lab 4.4
10
Purpose Determine the impact of temperature on the solubility of a substance.
11
Make predictions Add 10 g of solids and 10 cm3 of water to test tubes Place in beaker 2/3 full of water and stir until saturated Heat beaker slowly, until water is near boiling. Make observations Make predictions Make observations Clean up and complete all paperwork.
13
Pre-Lab 4.6
14
Purpose To determine how isopropanol works as a solvent.
15
Look at lab handbook and design an experiment. Be specific about measurements (how much) of solvents and solutes Get procedure signed by Mrs. Tripp
17
Pre-Lab 4.11x
18
Purpose To determine how the solubility of a gas is impacted by temperature changes.
19
Procedure Fill bucket 2/3 full of water Fill TT ¼ full of ammonia solution Add 5-6 boiling chips to solution Heat solution to boiling and then for 2-3 additional minutes. Hold extra TT over straight glass tube to collect gas during boiling Place thumb over tube to trap gas.
20
Submerge test tube with thumb covering the opening into bucket and observe what happens. Complete all paperwork
